A Lexus CarPlay interface is different from a universal USB adapter. It is a vehicle-specific decoder module installed behind the factory head unit or original navigation system. The goal is to add wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation apps, music, calls and voice assistant functions while keeping the original Lexus screen, dashboard appearance and factory control experience.

Lexus CarPlay Interface vs Wireless CarPlay Adapter
A wireless CarPlay adapter is only for vehicles that already have factory wired CarPlay. Most older Lexus vehicles do not have factory wired CarPlay, so they need a vehicle-specific decoder module instead.
If your Lexus has an original screen but no CarPlay, choose a Lexus CarPlay interface kit. If your Lexus already has wired CarPlay and you only want wireless connection, then a CarPlay adapter may be suitable.
